Ferny’s Three Birthday Wishes (If You’re Cool, You’ll Do Them)

http://noexcusessummit.com/new/fernys-three-birthday-wishes/

Hi All!

So today is my birthday and my family have some secret plans for me today, which I don’t know about.

All I asked is that I not lift a finger and they can plan the evening of shenanigans (or lack there of). I’ll just show up.

Now, this birthday will probably be one of my tamest, since I’ve been on a little bit of a health kick, losing weight (lost 25 lbs since Cinco de Mayo), not drinking alcohol and staying away from all sugar & simple carbs.

Treating my body a little better now that I’m hitting the big 32.

But I must confess, that I did cheat a little when Tim Sales’ partner, Steve Swartz, came into town to work on some marketing campaigns and we helped ourselves to free beer at the Double Tree Hotel’s unattended bar. (Don’t worry, we left a big tip!)

Coincidentally, there was also an Amway meeting going that night, so we got to educate/corrupt some of their loyalist on how the millions are made, while slightly buzzed on Sierra Nevada Ale. (They looked at us like we had 2 heads. Apparently, they had never seen drunk people before… and the internet money thing tripped them out too.)

But aside from that, I’ve been really really good! Pinky swear! (Just ask my family who I growl at, whenever they offer me deserts!)

Anyway, I don’t know what my birthday will bring, but given that my family members really don’t party, I don’t expect a big Mexican Tequila Bash.

However, I would still like all my friends, family and our No Excuses Peeps to do a couple of things for me which would mean a whole lot on my special day…

Now you have to do ALL THREE, or else it’s no bueno and I’ll send the Mexican Boogie-man (El Cucuy) to your house.

You promise to do it?

Ok, Good!

Here we go:

Birthday Wish #1 – Go Vote for My Girlfriend in the MISSION: Small Business Contest!

smallbizMy girlfriend, Cristina, entered a contest being organized by Chase Bank (they aren’t pure evil afterall) and LivingSocial, whom are giving away $250,000 grants to 12 small businesses.

Cristina has spent the past 6 years perfecting her craft as an event and floral designer, business woman and is ready to take her business, Posh Peony Event Design, to the next level.

Her first 5 years were the tough building stages of her business where she operated “in the red” or broke even, invested in equipment, supplies, trial & error, until having her first ever profitable year in 2011 and quickly becoming one of the most in demand event designers in Southern California… doing over 100 events last year.

posh peony

… all from her home office, with her family as employees/slaves and while working full-time as a school teacher. (Yup, she’s super woman)

Now it’s time to expand and she’s looking at renting office space, retire her family, hire real employees, quit her job and create some leverage for herself.

She’ll be successful no matter what, but receiving this grant would be amazing and she’ll be able to buy me mass quantities of tequila in Vegas (when I get off my diet) as a “business expense”. ;)

Now I know what you are thinking!

“Ferny, why would she want to have overhead and deal with the pains of a brick & mortar business? Especially when she has YOU as a boyfriend who would never do brick & mortar?!”

Well, the answer is she loves what she does and as far as I’m concerned, if people LOVE what they are doing and passionate, then she should continue doing that, especially a business.

(And having employees would mean I never have to help her setup another wedding! Yes! ::pumps fists:: )

Anyway, my first Birthday Wish is for you to go vote for her in the MISSION: Small Business Contest here.

You’ll have to log into the site via Facebook first, then scroll down to the search box and search for “Posh Peony” to find her entry.  Then click VOTE!.

It’s not the most intuitive voting process so follow these steps carefully.

Ok, when that’s done… my next wish…

Birthday Wish #2 – I’m in the Music Business!
Need Your Support!

Yup, you read that right. I’ve gone Hollywood!

I’m the Executive Producer of LA’s Hottest and World’s First & ONLY Heavy Metal Mariachi Band – Metalachi!

With the millions I’ve made in my home business, I’ve poured a bunch of money ($500) into helping this group produce their first album titled “UNO”.

(It’s like the “White Album” but much better!)

metalachi(Don’t let the costumes fool you, these guys can play!)

By now, you’ve noticed I’m a little different…

I’m an MIT grad turned MLM’er turned Internet Marketer, who loves two genre’s of music – Mariachi and Heavy Metal.

I grew up in a family of Mariachis and musicians, with my father being one of the maestros of the family, teaching many of my cousins out of his garage how to play a variety of instruments and also teaching me how to play the trumpet.

As I grew older, I didn’t really like rap or pop music like all the other kids my age, so I didn’t listen to much music, until I heard my first heavy metal mixed tape with Metallica, Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath.

I was hooked! ::insert devil horns here::

(As you can imagine, this led to a lot of guilt issues as a teen because I grew up Catholic.)

This also led to me learning to play the guitar and discovering other musical genres like Spanish Classical, Latin Music, Classic Rock, Blues, Reggae and the list goes on and on.

But my roots have always been with Mariachi and Heavy Metal/Hard Rock.

So obviously, when I experienced my first Metalachi concert, at the World Famous Roxy Theatre on the Sunset Strip last October, I was floored by the combo and immediately wanted to help this band take their act global.

They produced their first album (with a little help from me) and now you can get it on CD, iTunes, Spotify and Amazon.com

Simply search for “Metalachi” on any of those platforms.

My birthday wish #2 is for you to support the group and buy their album for $13 on CD or $8 on MP3 on iTunes, Amazon.com or Spotify.

All proceeds from the sales will go towards the bands heavy taco and tequila habit, which will lead to their inevitable epic implosion, bitter breakup, stints of re-hab at the Betty Ford Clinic, Behind-the-Music feature… setting the stage for their Reunion Tour in 10 years, like every great band!

Right now, they are touring all over the South Western part of the US including California, Arizona, Texas, New Mexico… ummm… pretty much anywhere with Mexicans-Americans and/or Heavy Metal/Hard Rock fans.

So go buy their album and check out their show if you can. It’s a ton of fun.  They even do “Family Friendly” shows… sometimes.

And the final wish…

Drumroll please…

Moment of Zen:

Can you believe that this man and his partner Raymond Fong have generated millions of dollars from home online? First Bill Gates drops out of Harvard to make crappy software that sold for Billions… Then a stoned smelly temper-mental a-hole hippie named Steve Jobs creates a global cult named Apple… And now this… well, here’s the gentleman who gave us our start and he might be crazier and more fun than us!
